Areas we cover

Exmoor, West Somerset and North Devon, worked out from Minehead.

We build garden rooms out from Minehead: the coast road through Dunster and Porlock, the combes and valley gardens of Exmoor, Dulverton, then over into North Devon around Barnstaple and the surf coast.

The patch

Sloping, exposed, wet-in-winter ground is the norm here.

We build across Exmoor, the West Somerset coast and North Devon, and we keep that patch deliberately tight. Short journeys mean a crew that arrives when it said it would.

Inland, this is the combes and valley gardens of Exmoor, and Dulverton.

Exmoor plots slope, hold water and sit on ground that changes from one corner to the next, so the base comes before the brochure.

Exmoor National Park and the coastal parishes treat outbuildings differently from most places. We site and size the room with those limits in view, and say early when a formal check is worth making.

West Somerset

  • The coast road

The coast road through Dunster and Porlock, with Minehead in the middle of it.

Most jobs along here are larger private houses, with business premises alongside.

A pool house earns its keep in the shoulder seasons, when the water is warm and the wind off the Bristol Channel is not.

North Devon

  • Barnstaple
  • The surf coast
  • The Devon side of the moor

Over the Devon side of the moor: Barnstaple, and the surf coast beyond it. The same mix of work as the Somerset side, larger private houses with business premises alongside.

Plenty of West Somerset and North Devon properties already have the footprint: a double garage used for bikes, a stone outbuilding full of rusting tools. Converting is often the quicker route to a home office, gym or guest suite, and it keeps the character of the original building.
